Marginalized children

All projects supported by World Childhood Foundation are reaching out to the most vulnerable of children; those mostly ignored and forgotten. One of Childhood’s goals is to raise problematic children issues otherwise overlooked.

fot_JerkerA200pxChildhood wants to protect children from abuse by working preventive. We want to be instrumental in creating safe and healthy living conditions for children making sure they are well cared for. We support children by giving them a chance to develop skills, knowledge and self esteem – all important components in order to grow up to happy and productive adults.

What does Childhood do for children at risk?

We want to prevent children from being victims of abuse or ending up in the streets. In order to achieve that goal we support young mothers so that they do not leave their children in the care of institutions. We educate girls about the risks of trafficking and offer social and psychological support to children at risk of being abused.

In Thailand Childhood supports the Kids Ark Foundation and their work with HIV positive children and children at risk of sexual abuse. Kids Ark are active in small villages located in northern Thailand where most of the children belong to the indigenous Red Lahu people. These children only speak their own regional language and are therefore isolated from the Thai society. The project House of Hope began 2005 in Mae Hugpatana, a suburb to Chiang Mai. Local teachers, health centre, village leaders and groups of volunteers jointly initiated House of Hope. The children included in the project are offered social support and after school activities. They are also taught a healthy lifestyle and how to develop their personal skills. Furthermore, the children get help with their home work in order to improve their school work.
