On the occasion of World Childhood Foundation’s 10 year anniversary, we have released a book about our work to help marginalized and vulnerable children. In ten pictorial chapters, some of the 500 projects are described that Childhood has supported since its inception, with an introduction by, among others, Childhood’s founder Queen Silvia, Princess Madeleine and Professor Madeleine Leijonhufvud. The book can be ordered from bookstores all over the world.
The book “Childhood 10 years” is available for purchase for a cost price that only covers the production costs and is available from bookstores all over the world. When ordering, please state the ISBN number 978-91-633-4664-4.
“We want to publish this book to disseminate knowledge about Childhood’s work helping street children, institutionalized children, and sexually exploited children and young mothers. It is a way for us to describe everything that has happened since Childhood was founded and how it is actually possible to change the prospect for children who have faced challenges and difficulties early on in life” says Deputy Secretary General, Mats Agurén.
The Articles contained in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) are the basis for Childhood’s work for vulnerable children and have influenced each of the chapters in the book. Enter Mötesplats (Meeting point) in Stockholm, the orphanage Atsigrezk in Lithuania and House of Hope in Thailand are a few of the projects described in the book, which is built up around the stories of children who have received assistance from the different projects. A few of these children are Gelena in the Ukraine, Dmitriy in Russia, Linda from Sweden, David from Lithuania, Laura in Estonia, Lisa from Germany and Amanda in the USA.
Queen Silvia wrote the introduction to the book and each chapter also has an introduction by individuals who are involved in various ways of Childhood’s work, including Princess Madeleine, Criminal Law Professor Madeleine Leijonhufvud and Professor of Neurophysiology, Martin Ingvar.
The book was created by Childhood in cooperation with Storåkers McCann and with great help from the energetic people who are involved in Childhood’s projects around the world.
